  I'm not sure I get what you mean. I thought the understanding was that God is a spirit. I haven't had time to look up the scriptures you list. It gets all twisted b/c the witnesses have their own definitions for soul and spirit.

  One of the things we settled on before we left was the big A word. It is such a scary word when you're indoctrinated. Once we examined the word, broke it down to its parts, turned it on its head, we realized we could handle it. If it comes to that.

  As of yet, no one has approached us about leaving or asked our reasons...... so no "apostate" title for us.

  What now? Where to from here on in?

  well, it is about six months since i came on here.. i have a stack of files and information at my finger tips that frankly i dont know what to do with!

  it is almost like i have forgotten more than i learnt when i go back through it all.

  sometimes i re-read stuff just to make sure i am really really sure of it all.. one of my main reasons for beginning this journey from apologist to 'apostate' was first to de-construct the power that held me since i was 10 and secondly, when i realized the truth about the 'truth' and the watchtower corporation/s, to get my kids out of it.. on one hand i want the wbts to be some distant forgotten memory but realize this probably will now not be until i feel they are 'safe' and.

  Hey Oz - I know that feeling. I wish I hadn't been born in. But I was. I wish my family was out. But they are not. I wish it was not so difficult to drop the whole witness thing. But it is. It's impossible to erase who we were. What influenced us. The best we can do is learn to manage the thoughts and feelings that we have now that we know what happened to us. That is very difficult.

  I lived with so many arbitrary man made rules all of my life. I can't do it anymore. I am determined to not make up or worry about conforming to rules that don't make sense. So I don't put a limit or judgement on how little or how much time and energy I need to work through getting over having been a witness.

  I totally relate to that burning in the stomach feeling. It sucks.

  in 1922 new emphasis was placed on door to door selling of books and magazines by judge rutherford.

  a set of 10 of his own books would eventually be sold for about $ 2.50 (about twenty five dollars in today's money).. the colporteur work under russell was not too dissimilar to fuller brush salesmen or vacuum cleaner sales.

  rutherford would prove to be as prolific a writer as russell and kept the pressess churning out his angry screeds which attacked roman catholics, jews (big business), government and imagined conspiracies with the devil.

  lol good answer cyberjesus.

  Yeah I have a hard time believing that Jesus command means to print literature and dispense it. Witnesses are keen on placing their literature but won't lift a finger to actually feed hungry people.

  i originally came here to find proof that the witnesses don't have the truth.

  i was so afraid of being destroyed at armagedon.. i didn't really find the convincing proof i was looking for.. what i did find, however, is the love and total acceptance that i hadn't felt before.

  to me, that's more important..

  i live in a city with a few major universities.

  last thursday, i got off work, and as i hit the main avenue on my way home, i noticed people with their graduation robes and caps on.

  i saw parents ecstatic that their children were now adults, and had accomplished something both they and their parents could be proud of.
